Again... I said this earlier this week.

For those of us who download to our hard-drives (and subsequently burn to CD)... And admit it... we ALL have.

We, who were part of the audience-experience... be Grateful for the AUD-experience.

I am not entitled... but I am Grateful.

Enjoy the SBD...

To to those who continue to believe in their thoughts that they are divinely entitled to ask how to DL and burn SBDs... you are not entitled to sh**... Don't F*** it up for those of us who truly enjoy the gift that is LMA.

i guess i am hoping for some insight as to how i can reconcile my own feelings of hypocrisy between the act of D/L ANYTHING from any unauthorized site, all the while claiming to hold the LMA policies in such high regard

an ethical question perhaps best left to each individual...if i admire the artists work, then shouldn't i also respect the artists wishes regarding that work?

maybe i need to cleanse my soul with a good gospel jam band
;)

May I suggest the "Appreciative Resurrected"? All the rage on the christian contemporary jamband scene since late 2007!!!

OK, that was pretty stupid, but hey, somebodies got to do it!

Not that I "hold this site's policies in high regard", or anything, but, speaking as a true "hypocrite", I think that if you hold the "secret" for obtaining that which is explicitly prohibited, it might not be in your best interests to start splashing that "secret" all over public forums. For example, let's say you have discovered a foolproof and cheap form of alchemy that can turn a pile of sheep offal into bags of the stickiest primo bud on the planet for 25 cents a pound, do you then climb to the top of the highest hill you can find and start shouting out the recipe? Most of us would say "Why, no kind sir, no I would not. I would refrain from doing so because the local authorities would most likely take great interest in what I am doing and probably not only take the formula away, but may also put me in a cold and dark place for a very long time." Are we then hypocrites for saying "Hey, yes we have the formula and yes we use it, BUT we do not think it a wise idea to start discussing the intracacies of how the formula works where those who have said they want no such formula employed would look first,"? I say no! We merely fear that "they" (feel free to substitute "The Man" here if you feel it more appropriate) could then take away any and all access to that which the formula was created for in the first place, thus rendering the forumla useless; and also I don't think we want any folks who AREN'T using the formula to be punished for our indescretions.
Hopefully you can follow this line of reasoning. I'm not sure I can.

By the way, the part about shouting out cat calls during Stella Blue killed me.

None of you are hypocrites. No one is at fault. I have been collecting bootlegs since I was nineteen. Mick Jagger still has eighteen houses. Bob Weir still has nineteen bicycles. I buy lots of their product. I am cool with myself. I do not hate Bobby for taking his position on this. I know I can get what I want anytime from my blessed fellow Heads.

I think we should listen the music play now.

Just to clarify, as stated in my post I don't consider myself a hypocrite either and do enjoy the free distribution of this fine music through any number of diferrent sources. I am simply saying that I understand why we choose not to openly discuss ways around set policies that could potentially have a negative effect on everyone, regardless of involvement.

June 21, 1948

Once upon a time, vinyl was pretty much the only form on which to press music. On this day in 1948, Columbia Records began mass production of 33 1/3 RPM records.

Fond memories, indeed. Brings me back to the stories of my father and his attempts to construct an LP duplication machine (Pops was extremely fond of live Glenn Miller stuff - yes, I know Miller died in 1945 - but didn't want to pay for the commercial releases). I guess the closest he came was a machine that was the size of VW Microbus and sucked up enough electricity to power a small battleship. I believe he burst into tears when I brought home my first dual well tape deck.
